Squeeze @ Halifax Victoria Theatre

Date: 17/11/2024

On their 50th Anniversary tour, what a great night, fantastic tunes old and new, lots of ability to get up and dance (which is a good thing as the seats at the theatre are hard on your bum and cramped).

Not my style of music that I listened to in my youth, but still a good show.

The Book of Mormon @ Bradford Alhambra

Date: 11/11/2024

I'd heard lots of different things about this, all along the lines of "be prepared to be offended" but luckily not the specific details.

The show itself is fantastic, lots of dancing and musical numbers. As per the title of the show, yes it does explain the history of the Mormon church and some of the behaviours which are different to other churches. It also covers other social aspects in other countries which some people are probably saying they are offended by as it's quite extreme but that is to get the point across.

Go and see it and enjoy it, it is brilliant!

Steve Steinman's – Anything For Love - The Meat Loaf Story @ Halifax Victoria Theatre

Date: 16/10/2024

This show is fabulous if you like the music of Jim Steinman, mostly sung my Meat Loaf but also Jim and others, such as Bonnie Tyler.

Steve and his band perform all the songs in Bat of Hell 1, some in 2 & 3 and others from Meat Loaf's other albums plus others. He has some good interactions with the audience, especially those that come in late just after he's started. Both times I've seen this show the first song is stopped as he has a go at those coming in late, how hard can it be to get there on time? it's not like it's that early in the evening, but it's good ice breaker material.

The band and singers are all excellent and get their own time in the limelight able to be stars themselves.

I hope to be booking this again when it comes back as I'm sure it will!

David Essex @ Sheffield City Hall

Date: 13/09/2024

What a great show, we had seats 5 rows from the front so had a terrific view

He still has the voice, the trademark shirt and waistcoat, 100s of women screaming that they loved him and many who were devoted followers they knew all the songs and when to rush to the front for hand touching (although that makes it sound like a cult, which it sort of is without most of the bad bits)

The city hall venue was good, seats big and well padded and spaced out so loads of leg and dancing room.

Dave did and hour and 40 mins and did keep the biased audience going with a bit of chat and actions.

All in all, a right good night out and not too loud that we needed earlier plugs!
